Write A Book On A Blog

Hello, everyone! I have decided something.  It takes ages to finish a book and blogging has thus far been the bane of my existence, so I am going to start writing stories on my blog to serve two goals: 1) get my creative juices flowing and 2) help me stay engaged. Life has been pretty crazy lately, so my progress on book three has unfortunately been slim. I do sincerely apologize to my die hard followers out there. Know that it is coming, albeit slowly. Thank you so much for checking in and being interested! I have discovered that many writers hate blogging. I was playing with this idea of writing a book/novella/short story on my blog in a daring, hardly-edited way. (That seems all I have time for these days!) Then a few fellow writers made the same suggestion and pretty much cemented the plan. I need to get something accomplished in the writing world! I can't shake the need. If anyone else has tried this,  please tell me your stories of success or failure in the comme...

Back To The Grindstone

For the life of me,  I cannot fathom why it is so difficult for me to keep up with this thing.  Perhaps I should have named this blog 'The Writer Who Hates To Blog But Does It Anyway' or 'The Epic Struggle: Writer Vs. Blog'. There is potential in that. All I know is I am not very inspired to write here, so 'The Inspired Blog' is rather redundant.  You know what? I just might change it.

There Is A Sickness In My Soul

There is a sickness in my soul As I sit and watch the news More children have been murdered Is this really what we choose? My heart is pained and weary I just don't understand This pointless, senseless violence Someone has to take a stand There is a sickness in my soul As I see the mothers crying The faces of the victims The children who are dying I am angry nothing changes "Do something!" I keep shouting Compromise or combine ideas Your inaction is surprising There is a sickness in my soul That all we do is argue Surely we can all agree There's something better we can do I don't care about your politics I don't care about your pride I care about the children And the sickness we have inside

A Mother's Heart

A Mother's Heart The day I felt you in my womb I knew I'd do anything for you I couldn't wait to see your face The one who took my heart and through All of life's unending hate Would teach me to love the way I knew I never could without this one And utterly enlightening loom Upon which you wove a tapestry Of joyful triumph and travesty That terrifying and euphoric be Would change my soul into something new Perfect eyes, perfect nose Perfect fingers, perfect toes Perfection none will ever see Perfection only seen by me First step, misstep First word, misheard I never knew it could hurt so much The pain of love that breaks apart The jagged pieces of my heart And grinds away until all is dust When your tiny heart was joined for life To this beating, ever fractured one Yet healing also in the wings Like a bird that flies into the sun Blinding light encompassed all As worlds have fallen far below Insignificant in the glow Of the warm and sustai...

It's About That Time Again

Image
Well, several months have gone by and I haven't posted a single blog. (Shame upon me again.) Because of my utter lack of faithfulness when it comes to blogging, I believe everyone is due for an update. I am still working on book three of The Broken Woman Cycle and am quite pleased with how things are shaping up. At this exact moment, however, I am in the grips of laptop withdrawals. I know tapping away at a typewriter in a dimly lit room seems like a romantic image, but in reality it feels more like that movie Misery. Only with no delete button or editing and an ungodly amount of wasted ink and paper. If missing my beautiful and convenient software makes me less of a writer in anyone's eyes, then so be it. I eagerly await the day I have a laptop in my grasping hands again. Moving on before this becomes an ode to technological advancement, I can also say that I have written an entire SciFi trology... in my head. I am looking forward to working on a new project for a little w...

The SAHM Writer

The SAHM writer. I once believed myself to be alone in this endeavour, but there are more of us out there than I realized. If you are tired, discouraged, and appalled by your diminished vocabulary... you've come to the right place. Let me preface this blog by saying I love my life. Did you just nod and chuckle? If so, you probably know why I felt the need to make my happiness clear. Being a parent is tough no matter what you do, but worth it? Absolutely. My husband and I agreed long before we had a child that one of us would stay home with our baby- possibly for the entire period before school begins. Before being a SAHM, I worked as a full-time substitute teacher and went to college for Liberal Arts with a concentration in Teaching. I enjoyed teaching when the kids would light up with new knowledge, but writing was always my passion. I would be in the middle of a lesson when a brilliant idea struck, so I'd start scribbling it down while I spoke. Alas, I had to leave my job...

Thoughts Of A Shadowed Mind

Image
The mist engulfs my mind again. It comes creeping into the crevices of my consciousness. Slow at first. Oppressing me, hiding me, allowing me to move among shadows with the other dark creatures. This withdrawal pulls me beneath a glass surface- reflecting intricacies of thought I scarcely realized. That rare gleam of inspiration rushes forward, demolishing all else in a blinding torrent. I give a fevered gasp and glory in the revelations I have found. Yet I have responsibilities and disabilities. I cannot dance in the fire and moonlight. I must bid farewell until fortune finds a better fate for me.
