There Is A Sickness In My Soul

There is a sickness in my soul
As I sit and watch the news
More children have been murdered
Is this really what we choose?
My heart is pained and weary
I just don't understand
This pointless, senseless violence
Someone has to take a stand
There is a sickness in my soul
As I see the mothers crying
The faces of the victims
The children who are dying
I am angry nothing changes
"Do something!" I keep shouting
Compromise or combine ideas
Your inaction is surprising
There is a sickness in my soul
That all we do is argue
Surely we can all agree
There's something better we can do
I don't care about your politics
I don't care about your pride
I care about the children
And the sickness we have inside
