Thayne finished setting camp, and then turned to face her with hard eyes. She tensed as though to flee, but the rope was still holding her captive. The rough hemp gleamed with her blood, but her wrists were no longer injured. Whatever prayers he had recited were incredibly effective.

“So, Hanaldi,” he began as he warily knelt in front of her, “are you ready to be civil?”
